The three ingredients to achieve successful propagation from seed or from cuttings are: heat, light and water. The heated base and clear crystal cover in this unit will help you get the right heat and light conditions. It is critical that you keep the compost moist at all times.

Successful propagation requires heat. As the ideal time to propagate is during the colder months in preparation for the new season , it can be difficult to achieve the even heat required, particularly at night. An electrically heated base is therefore the ideal piece of equipment to greatly increase your chances of success.

This unit has been designed for use within the house where the average temperature will not fall below 10˚C. It is not intended for use in unheated greenhouses.

Please note that the electric heater is designed to gently transfer heat to the compost – it will feel warm rather than hot to the touch.
