Volcanic Rock Dust
Volcanic rock dust minerals enrich your soil, promoting tastier crops and enhancing resistance to pests and drought. This natural and organic method effectively adds essential trace elements to improve soil quality.
Is volcanic rock dust beneficial year-round?
Volcanic rock dust is beneficial year-round, except during frozen or windy conditions. Earthworms enhance its effects by drawing the minerals into the soil, aiding in mineral release.
Can volcanic rock dust be used with wormeries?
Yes, volcanic rock dust can be used with wormeries to enrich compost with minerals. Expect healthier, larger crops and tastier fruits and vegetables. This product is entirely natural and organic.
Top Dressing
Spread at any time of year, excluding frozen or windy conditions. Recommended application rates are 0.5kg per square metre annually for general use or 2kg per square metre as a booster.
Compost Activator and Accelerator
Use as a light covering each time new compost layers are added to bins or piles. Speeds up decomposition, raises temperatures, and reduces odors.
Wormeries
Sprinkle a small handful per square foot onto the surface of your wormery monthly to attract worms and enrich the compost.
Clay Soil
Volcanic rock dust minerals boost soil organisms, crucial for improving clay soil's breathability, often compromised by waterlogged conditions.
Top Dressing:
Spread at any time of year unless frozen or windy conditions.
Recommended per annum: 0.5kg / m² (good handful / square yard) = 2 tonnes / acre
Booster:
2kg / m² = 8 tonnes / acre
Plant Pots, Tubs; Baskets:
Sprinkle level tablespoonful onto 15cm (6 inches) surface diameter of compost or soil and water in as usual. Two applications per year.
Compost Activator and Accelerator:
Each time you add a new layer of compost to your compost bin or pile, add a light covering over the surface that you can easily see through. Speeds up the breakdown and reaches higher temperatures and reduces odours.
Wormeries:
Sprinkle a small handful per 30cm² (1ft²) onto the surface of your wormery every month. Try a small area with this amount and see the worms congregate.
Clay Soil: The principle function of the rock dust is that the minerals in it boost the living organisms of the soil ie everything from the bacteria to the worms. These will be struggling in sticky clay soil as it has the normal breathing pores will be full of water / sticky clay particles.Â
