What is a fire bowl?

Often referred to as a fire pot, and sometimes mistaken for fire pits, fire bowls are usually used for decorative purposes. Fire bowls are versatile and can be placed upon columns, tabletops and patios to add an ambience and warmth to the setting. 

These garden fire bowls have the added bonus of coming complete with their own stand and a grill so you can also use them as a BBQ.

Can you put garden fire bowls on decking or grass?

It is not advised to place a garden fire bowl on decking or grass. While they do not pose much of a fire risk, they can give off intense heat which can damage your grass and decking.

How to make the most of your new garden fire bowl

Make sure your garden fire bowl is on a flat, even surface. Do not use the fire bowl on decking or grass.

When finished using your fire bowl it is recommended that it is stored somewhere dry and covered to ensure it lasts as long as possible.

For fire bowl use

Make a small mound of paper and place kindling or other fire starters in the centre of your fire bowl.

Light the kindling or fire starters and slowly add pieces of wood to increase the intensity of the fire.

To use as a BBQ

Make a small mound using charcoal and put a fire starter in the centre of your fire bowl.

Light the fire starter and wait for the charcoal to turn grey and for the flames to die down a bit. Once this has happened your fire bowl will be ready to cook on.

Helpful tips

The centre of the fire bowl grill will be the hottest area. Use this to cook on and the outer edges to keep food warm.

Once you are finished cooking, add more wood to continue to use your fire bowl for warmth.

Only burn wood if it is completely dry, wet wood will produce more smoke.

To keep your fire bowl in good shape, apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the surface. Only do this when the fire bowl is cold.
