Top of the range, no-turn, Aerobin hot garden composter bin. An efficient, 400 litre hot garden composter combined with an internal lung means the days of having to hand turn compost are over.

This garden composter stays tightly compact to hold in the heat and a unique, moisture recirculation system aids for quicker composting.

This 400 litre Aerobin garden composter, boasts an impressive design which enables the internal environment to be exceptionally efficient for healthy aerobic (hot) garden composting in almost all climates, all year round.

The humid conditions in the hot composter bin allow healthy decomposer microorganisms to devour the contents, extracting the nitrogen and carbon from the waste and leaving in its place a nutrient dense, organic material which will enable your garden plants to thrive.

This Aerobin hot garden composter bin also comes with a hose extension kit which makes for easier extraction of the liquid fertiliser (leachate).
This rich, nutrient dense liquid should start collecting in the leachate tank of the hot Aerobin garden composter within 4-6 weeks of use followed by the compost that will start to build in the base within 8-12 weeks of use.

The hot garden composter bin’s thick insulation system, nutritious compost takes only 90 days to process. It is then ready to use for all your plant and flower needs. Ideal for herbs, fruits, and vegetables as well as flowering plants.

Hot composting is a sustainable solution that not only benefits you, (with a wholesome, natural alternative to industrial fertilizer) but it also benefits the environment as a simple and effective way to reduce your household waste that goes to landfill.

More info:
This hot garden Aerobin works best when at least half full and waste should be premixed before its loaded into the bin to avoid any concentrations of individual matter. Ensure any woody material is shredded or mulched before adding to allow for quicker breakdown. If you want to get the composting process underway quickly, add a layer (about 5cm) of non-sterilised compost to the base of the bin.

Problem solving:

Problem: Too wet

Compost not heating up

Bad smell

Not decomposing well

Solution:

Take out the material and add back in with layers of dry, brown material (leaves, sawdust, wood shavings).

Newspaper (if scrunched up/shredded) counts as brown material and will help.

If larger leaves and garden material not decomposing, shred into smaller pieces.

Problem: Too dry

Not decomposing

Solution:

Take out the material and start the process again. Take care to layer, dry brown materials between wet, green materials (grass, kitchen scraps, other plant material).

If compost is too dry, it becomes water repellent and is difficult to re-wet.

Avoid putting dry materials in hot composter bin, unless mixed or moistened with wet, green materials.

Problem: Insects

Garden composter bin attracting insects

Solution:

It is normal to have flies and small insects in and around the hot garden composter bin. They are a natural part of decomposition.

If these insects are annoying, cover with shredded paper, grass clippings, or use a pyrethrum spray.
