Perfect Vegetables without Chemicals
Gardening Naturally Veggiemesh- Fine Mesh Netting
Veggiemesh, it is designed to protect fruit and vegetables from a large range of insect pests. It will protect against -cabbage root fly, carrot fly, cabbage white butterfly, pea moth, cutworm, cabbage whitefly, leaf miners and many other aphids.
Cover crops all the year round from planting right up to harvest. Ensure the netting has enough slack for the crop to grow, bury the edges or secure with crop cover clips or steel pegs ensuring there are no gaps.
Veggiemesh has a high level of ventilation, compared to fleece which reduces the risk of high temperature and humidity which can encourage diseases and weed growth. Also it is much easier to handle and less likely to being blown away in strong winds.
Veggiemesh will also provide protection against birds, rabbits, pets and snails.
Veggiemesh protects against wind, hail and heavy rain. The crop may be watered and fed with a liquid fertiliser through the mesh.
The mesh will also give some frost protection. It is particularly effective in protecting mature vegetables (e.g. cauliflower and calabrese) from autumn frosts.
Most vegetable crops, and soft fruit, may be protected with Veggiemesh, including: Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, turnips, swedes, radish, carrot, parsnip, celery, spinach, parsley, onions, leeks, peas, lettuce and all types of oriental vegetables.
Note - Lift the netting during flowering if the crop depends on pollination by bees
It may be used to cover hoops and cages.
Please Note!! Always cover plants and seeds immediately after planting or sowing. Ensure plants are free from insect pests before they are covered.
Veggiemesh may be cut using a pair of scissors'. It does not fray but cut edges may be 'hemmed' using a rot proof nylon thread.
Care of Vegiemesh
Veggiemesh is washable, it can be put in the washing machine on a "wool" cycle.
With care the netting should last for many years.
