Top tips for a cleaner kitchen compost caddy
-Ensure the lid of your kitchen caddy bin is shut at all times, this will deter fruit flies and other winged insects from moving in and prevent odours from getting out
-Let tea bags, coffee grinds and anything hot cool down before placing them into your kitchen compost caddy bin. Hot and steamy conditions will generate additional moisture and inspire fruit flies and germs that thrive in heat
-Rinse out your kitchen compost caddy bin frequently with boiling water and salt. You can also use lemon juice as it’s a natural odour remover and will help to destroy germs that may be present
-Empty your kitchen caddy liner often or as soon as it is full (don't overfill), tie it in a knot as this will discourage mould growth forming
-Store your kitchen bin out of direct sunlight as heat can encourage smells, and hot weather will make your food scraps decompose much faster
Suitable for cold kitchen waste only, heat will adversely affect the liner.
These kitchen compost caddy liners take 45 days to full degrade in a compost bin. No detrimental affect on composting process and zero trace elements or toxic residue left.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight. These kitchen liners will not biodegrade in storage. Biodegradation will only begin once in a compost setting with micro-organisms, moisture and warmth present. Over time the material may lose some of its physical properties and weaken.
