Which Bulbs for Shade or Sunshine?
With so many pretty spring bulbs to choose from, it can be tricky to choose the ones that are right for your garden. Luckily, there’s a bulb to suit practically any spot.
If you have a sunny spot plant Daffodils, Tulips Crocuses, Hyacinths or Irises.
For those shady spots plant Bluebells or Snowdrops
When Do I Plant Bulbs in my Garden?
You can plant spring bulbs from September well into late autumn.
How Deep to I Plant Bulbs
Th general rule is to dig a hole at least two to three times the size (depth)of the bulb.
Which Way Up Do I Plant Bulbs?
Drop the bulb into the hole with its roots pointing downwards and fill in the hole, firming the earth back well to avoid any air gaps. If you can’t tell which end of the bulb is which, plant it on its side and it will work it out.
What Type of Soil Do Bulbs Like?
Bulbs prefer well-drained soil, you can always plant in containers filled with a 50/50 mix of grit and peat-free compost.
