Garden Hoops and Tunnel Kits

Garden hoops are an ideal way to make your gardening easier and stress free. Fundamentally, they will support plant, fruit or vegetable growth by making sure that they are protected from all the dangers of growing outdoors, whether that be common pests such as birds and butterflies, or the extreme weather such as snow and ice. Simply place the most suitable covering over the hoops that you need and be assured that your crops will have the best chance to grow. A ‘tunnel kit’ refers to everything you need to ensure your crops are protected: hoops, a covering, pegs and clips.

Types of Covering

Every tunnel kit will be a variety of different coverings, so you have a large selection deepening on what you issue is, whether it be garden pests or the weather. Types of covering includes: soft butterfly netting, bird netting, veggiemesh, ultrafine veggiemesh, thermacrop, 30g fleece or polythene. Flexible Green Hoops

Green hoops are perfect if you would like to add some flexibility to your gardening. The hoops are 1.8m long with a 10mm diameter, however their flexibility means that you will be able to slightly adjust the length when placing them in the ground or a raised bed. If these hoops are erected at 1.2m wide, they will stand at 0.6m high. Like all hoops, these hoops can be used in a tunnel kit to assist you for all your growing throughout the season and beyond. With the green hoops, anchors can be purchased which will improve the stability in the ground for the hoops.

Black Modular Hoops

Black modular hoops are similar to the green hoops, however they are half the size so they are perfect if you are looking to cover a slightly smaller area. The hoops are UV stabilized but are only 0.9m long, so they’re ideal if you’re looking to grow crops that don’t reach taller heights. You can connect the black hoops together, using rods and joiners. Then, simply keep the covering in place using hoop clips. If these hoops are erected at 1.2m wide, they will stand at 0.6m heigh, just like the green hoops.

Aluminium High Top Hoops

All aluminium hoops have a diameter of 19mm. Depending on the size of the hoops, you will have to push them into the ground in order to provide the best stability. Anchors and support bars can be used separately in order to provide additional stability if you feel you need it. High top hoops come in in a small or large size.

Small high-top hoops: Actual height 0.78m x width 0.80m. Erected height 0.66m x width 0.80m. You push these 12cm into the ground.

Large high-top hoops: Actual height 0.68m x width 1.15m. Erected height 0.60 x width 1.15m. You push these 15cm into the ground.

Round Aluminium Hoops

Similar to the high-top hoops, the round aluminium hoops come in large or small and are 19mm in diameter. If you need to make these hoops, or any other hoops taller, hoop extensions are available in lengths of 500mm or 800mm which will help you increase the height of your hoops if needed.

Small round hoops: Actual height 0.68m x width 1.15m. Erected height 0.60 x width 1.15m. You push these 8cm into the ground.

Large round hoops: Actual height 0.92m x width 1.55m. Erected height 0.80m x width 1.55m. You push these 12cm into the ground.

Square Aluminium Hoops

Square hoops are ideal if you need some extra growing space for raised beds or open soil. Like all the hoops, they are extremely durable and long lasting. This means that you will be able to grow all your round, even moving into the colder winter months, simply change the covering that you have on your hoops to counter-act the weather.

Actual hoops size: H:0.92 x W:1.15m. Erected height: 0.80m x Width: 1.15m. You push these hoops 12cm into the ground.

Portable Tunnel Kits

Portable tunnel kits can be used using the aluminium high stop, round or square hoops. Similar to the tunnel kits, you can select your type of covering and you will receive this along with the pegs and clips. However, they are slightly different to the traditional tunnel kits. They have side and support bars, making the kit ‘portable’. With the portable kits, you will receive: hoops, netting, pegs, clips, tubing and joiners to hold the structure together. They are extremely easy to move around any area of your garden that you need.
