The skin is reddish and its flesh white with bright rose-coloured zones or rings. The Bassano beet appears to be the same as those met with in the month of June in all the markets in the North of Italy, from Venice to Genoa. At Venice it is called "Barbabietola de Chioggia" from the name of the place whence it is supplied to the Venetian Markets.
