Kitchen Herb SeedsPlease note that these seeds are not organic.
Herbs have been used for centuries for culinary and medicinal purposes. The range of 9 herbs that we have selected for you are easy to grow either in pots or tubs, in a traditional kitchen herb garden or even on the kitchen window sill.
As well as being used as essential ingredients and flavourings in a multitude of dishes many of the herbs also give a colourful flower display.

This pack includes the following varieties

Basil - Sweet Genovese
Average 700 seeds
Traditional large leaved Sweet Basil used in pestos, pasta and tomato dishes, use fresh in salads. Can be sown all year round to grow on the windowsill.
Instructions : Sow under glass in March, transplant when large enough into 8cm (3") pots. Harden off and plant out 38cm (15") apart after all risk of frost has past. Can be direct sown from May 12mm (1/4") deep, thin plants to 30cm (12") apart.
Sowing : March to May

Chives
Average 300 seeds
Wonderful culinary herb with fine leaves and a mild onion flavour. It has very pretty pink flowers and can be used for companion planting.
Instructions : Sow in a well prepared bed 1.5cm (3/4") deep, thin to 15cm (6") and keep well watered. Can be grown indoors all year round 3-4 seeds to a pot on the windowsill.
Sowing : March to May

Coriander - Long Standing
Average 150 seeds
Coriander is grown for young leaves and its seed. A must for Thai, Indian and Mediterranean dishes. This selection is slower to go to seed than most.
Instructions : Direct sow in the final growing position 1cm (1/2") deep, keep moist and thin to 20cm (8"). Pick leaves as required the plants will eventually go to seed. Can also be sown all year round to grow on the windowsill

Marjoram - Sweet
Average 1000 seeds
Grey - Green leaves with a sweet mild flavour, very aromatic.
Instructions : Sow just below the surface of a moist compost, Propagate with the tray inside a polythene bag at approx 18C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when large enough to handle. Plant out in final position 30cm (12") apart in full sun.
Sowing : Feb to June

Mint
Average 1000 seeds
Probably the best known herb, can be used for culinary purposes & infusions. It is a wonderful companion plant which deters many insects.
Instructions : Sow on the surface of a moist compost, do not cover the seed. Germinate with the tray inside a polythene bag at approx 22C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when large enough to handle. Plant out in final position 30cm (12") apart.
Sowing : Feb to May

Oregano
Average 1500 seeds
This Oregano has a mild flavour and pretty pink flowers, the leaves can be used fresh or dried to flavour many dishes. The flowers can be dried and used for flavouring.
Instructions : Sow Feb to April in pots or trays 0.5cm (1/4") deep & keep moist. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots, when large enough, harden off and plant out 20cm (8") apart or direct sow April to May in a warm sunny position and thin as necessary. Grow all year round on the windowsill.
Sowing : Indoors: Feb to April Outdoors: April to May

Parsley - Bravour
Average 500 seeds
Tightly curled leaves with a good bright green colour. A hardy variety which will stand for a long time before flowering.
Instructions : Soak seeds overnight, then sow outdoors 1cm (1/2") deep with rows 30cm (12") apart. Thin to 20cm (8") apart pick leaves from all plants to encourage growth. Sow July onwards for growing in a pot on the windowsill.
Sowing : March to July

Sage - English
Average 40 seeds
Looks great in a border, evergreen leaves which are full of flavour. Keep trimmed to encourage new growth.
Instructions : Use a free draining compost, cover the seed lightly and germinate at approx 20C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when large enough to handle, grow on at cooler temp. Plant out in final position 30cm (18") apart in full sun.
Sowing : Feb - April

Thyme - English Winter
Average 250 seeds
Best picked when young or can get tough, keep well trimmed to encourage new growth.
Instructions : Sow just below the surface of a moist compost, Propagate with the tray inside a polythene bag at approx 15C. Transplant into 75mm (3") pots when large enough to handle. Plant out in final position 30cm (12") apart in well drained soil and sunny area.
Sowing : Feb to June
